At the special pre-screening of the greatest movie of all times and Drew Barrymore's directorial debut movie, Whip It!, the Dallas Derby Devils inducted Drew Barrymore as an honorary Dallas Derby Devil! So from henceforth she will be known by her derby name Smashley Simpson. Because seriously, we barely even know real names in Roller Derby. I've even caught myself calling my wife by her derby name or I'm ordering a drink. Either of which is possible.

DFW.com Article & Photos
Our great friends over at DFW.com came to the bout on August 1st and had a great time! They took some amazing photos and should have some video soon.
What an amazing bout! The High Seas Hotties threw the switch on the Death Row Rumblers with a 113 to 52 victory. This finishes the High Seas Hotties with an undefeated regular season record and secures there place in the championship bout for 1st place against the 2007 and 2008 champion team, the Slaughterers. At the July 18th bout we saw an incredible tight scoring game were the Hotties ended the 3 year undefeated streak. 1st place is up for grabs and I can guarantee that the championship bout will be the hottest derby action you are going to see this year!
GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY! The Shifters and the Wrecking Crew went helmet to helmet, fighting to stay in the fight for a slot at the championship game. Both teams have yet to add some ink to the win column and neither wanted to go home empty handed. From the first whistle the score was so close the crowd held their breath after every jam to see who was in the lead. More than once the teams pulled ahead of each other, trading the lead like Magic cards at a nerd convention. Down 5 points at the very last jam, in some sort of poetic irony, ex-Crew captain Anita Riot scored 2 grand slams to take victory and elevate the Suicide Shifters to the Championship bout to play against the Death Row Rumblers for 3rd place. Final score Suicide Shifters 69 and Wrecking Crew 64.
