CREAM8ER #1800, HIGH SEAS HOTTIES

What position are you most comfortable playing?

I enjoy jamming. I don’t feel like I’m the best blocker yet.

What are your non-derby hobbies/activities/hidden talents?

I taught myself how to play the piano when I was 7. I was doing Classical recitals by the time I was 12. If I could get paid to play the piano I would do it in a heartbeat.

Playing any sport is a huge commitment. How do you juggle that along with your life outside of derby?

My husband is extremely supportive of me playing roller derby. He helps with our two boys when I have practices or events to attend. I have to travel a lot for my career, which he supports as well. Without my husband being there for me, there isn’t any way I would be able to do this.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of playing the game?

I like seeing the hard work that has been put in as a team pay off. The accomplishments are gratifying even if the game isn’t won.

If you could go back and talk to yourself as a newbie skater, what advice would you give her?

Don’t obsess over your mistakes. Even the greatest skaters in the world screw up every now and then. Just learn from them and move on.
