Dallas Derby Devils and Tarrant Area Food Bank Unite to Fight Hunger in 2024
Dallas, TX – February 20, 2024 – The Dallas Derby Devils (DDD), the premier roller derby league in North Texas, and the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB), a pivotal organization in hunger relief, are excited to announce a groundbreaking partnership for 2024. This collaboration aims to empower the community through sport and service, addressing the vital issue of food insecurity in 13 counties that the food bank serves.
A Comprehensive Collaboration: Skating and Service
The Dallas Derby Devils are committed to making a tangible difference in the community. As part of the partnership, DDD will host quarterly service days at the TAFB distribution center. These service days are unique opportunities for fans to volunteer alongside their favorite skaters to build a strong, and service-oriented community. Fans are encouraged to sign up and contribute their time to this vital cause.
"We are thrilled to partner with the Dallas Derby Devils. Their commitment to service and community engagement is inspiring. These initiatives will bring much-needed attention and support to our efforts in combating hunger across our 13-county service area], said Julie Butner, President & CEO of Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Season Opener and Virtual Food Drive: A Dynamic Duo
The partnership will be prominently featured at the DDD's home season opener on April 13th. This event will not only showcase the thrilling sport of roller derby but also mark the launch of a virtual food drive in support of TAFB. Fans will have the chance to donate online, helping to provide essential food items to those in need. This digital approach allows supporters from all over to participate, regardless of their location.
"Roller derby is about strength, community, and making a positive impact. Our quarterly service days and virtual food drive at our home season opener are just the beginning of how we plan to support the Tarrant Area Food Bank and fight hunger in our community. We're proud to stand alongside TAFB in this important work." – Ashley Gill, CMO of Dallas Derby Devils.
