JULY 2017: Skater of the Month
Melotraumatic #8, Death Row Rumblers
If you could go back and talk to yourself as a newbie skater, what advice would you give her?
With less than 2 years in, I'm still a newbie myself. But I would say: newbie self, don't give up just because it's hard and don't give up because you're discouraged. Recognize the gains you are making, large and small, and keep going with it. Most importantly: don't compare yourself to others. Focus on your goals at your pace.

Bout 1 of Game 2 featured the High Seas Hotties launching their opening 2017 plunder against the Death Row Rumblers, who fell in Game 1 to the Slaughterers. And in the first rematch since September 24 last season, Bout 2 was an exciting tussle between the 2016 Champions Wrecking Crew and the 2nd place Slaughterers.

MAY 2017: Skater of the Month
If you could go back and talk to yourself as a newbie skater, what advice would you give her?
I would tell myself to start this amazing and life changing sport earlier. When you join in your 40's, TIME is your worst enemy. I get this question all of the time, "Are you still doing the roller derby thing?" I always answer with a "Yes." I get really sad thinking about the time when I will have to answer, "No." I love this sport and the family that goes with it.

Don’t obsess over your mistakes. Even the greatest skaters in the world screw up every now and then. Just learn from them and move on
Dallas Derby Devils Announce New Look
The Dallas Derby Devils are proud to introduce their new logo designed by league member and graphic designer Anna Lee Doughtie (Animal Lee). Wanting to emphasis the city of Dallas and the state of Texas, the logo combines two key elements: a Star and Pegasus Wings. The star is both a nod to the Lone Star State and representation of the jammer star, a well-known symbol used to indicate the roller derby player who can score points on the track during a jam. Additionally, the wings represent the Pegasus, the unofficial mascot of the city of Dallas.
MARCH 2017: Skater of the month
GINJA TURTLE #757, SUICIDE SHIFTERS, BATTALION OF DOOM
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DERBY MEMORY?
One of my favorite memories so far and likely always would be when I got my first lead jam at B-team Champs at the end of last season. It was my first game ever with Battalion of Doom, and I remember getting through the pack and hearing the whistle. My jam ref was pointing at me! I was Lead! I heard the Dallas bench erupt in cheers. I could not help but cheer back.
February 2017: Skater of the Month
BOURBON BARBIE #16, DEATH ROW RUMBLERS
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR DERBY NAME?
When I went to try out for derby I had no idea what my chances of making it were. I didn’t want to make a big investment just for tryouts so I went to Dick’s sporting goods and bought some Barbie skates to try out in. During tryouts everyone called me Barbie because of my skates. Afterwards we went out and everyone discovered my love for Whiskey/ Bourbon and then my name, Bourbon Barbie was born.
